About The Pinson Foundation

Founded in 2006 by Michael Pinson, The Pinson Foundation is a totally volunteer-operated charitable organization designed to serve the charitable needs of the Tampa Bay area and other communities. Working through a large network of friends and business relationships, the Foundation generates awareness for charitable organizations, supports their fundraising activities and promotes volunteerism.

Donations paid directly to the Foundation are used to support internal chairty projects and to help provide grants to individuals and other charity organizations. We are reistered with the IRS and State of Florida as a 501(c)3 Non-Profit organization. All donations are tax deductable.

 

 

 

We have three business models to help those in Need:
 
1) We raise funds from our friends in our community
2) We host or co-host charity events to raise money for our general charity fund.  In 2010, the Pinson Foundation expensed 81% of its funds for direct charitable use.

3) Since we are a small charity organization iwth limited funds and 100% supported by volunteers we also use our social media and other networks to help promote other charity projects in the local community.

This helps reduce the advertising and marketing costs for other local charities as we encourage our supporters to attend those local events and donate funds. In this model, the Pinson Foundation does not process or receive monies from those organizations. We do this free of charge to help others in our community. It is customary that we have received name recognition and several tickets for our volunteers to those events we are supporting. It is all about attracking our supporters to "Come for the Charity - Stay for the Party", have fun, and support to help others in need. If you review our Facebook page, you will find just a few of these fun events where we have implmented this model to other charities in the community to raise funds.

 

 

The Pinson Foundation is managed and directed by a group of corporate volunteers, utilizing generously donated office space and supplies, in the Tampa Bay Area. We strive to minimize expense, allowing us to direct a higher percentage of money raised to those in need.

The Foundation hosted our first official fundraising event in 2006 with special guest "American Idol Melissa McGhee" at the home of J. Michael Pinson, that benefited The Spring of Tampa Bay. The Spring provides emergency shelter services for battered women and children. Between 2006 through 2009, the Foundation has raised net proceeds of $16,200 that have been paid to Spring of Tampa Bay. 

In 2011, the Pinson Foundation made "In Kind" donation for to "Hospice" and "Walk for AIDS Research" to support their fundraiser, by donating the use of our sound equipment for the event.  Pinson Communications, Inc. also participated by donating use of their delivery truck and generator set. This saved them $3,700 in hard event costs. The Pinson Foundation also made a $1,000 grant to Hospice / AIDS Walk.

Our annual goal is to support local charities and provide support and grants in all of the following areas. Support for these areas is directly related to our annual budget and number of voluneteers each year.  While it is our goal to try help as much as we can, our programs and grants are limited to our annual budgets. 

  • Programs for High Risk Children
  • Food Banks & Emergency Shelters
  • War Veteran Programs
  • Cancer Research
  • Environmental & Wildlife Programs
  • Special Disaster Relief Programs: 2010 Haiti Earthquake & Homeless Relief
